Meghalaya is in the northeastern part of India.Maghalaya is also known the "Abode of clouds" which means home for cloud. It has a natural beauty and rich culture.I was captured it's beautyful hills, green valley during my visit.so let start sharing my experience about this amazing place.


Location : to visit Meghalaya:

Meghalaya is located in northeastern region of India sharing it's borders with Bangladesh to South and Assam to North. Capital, Shilong is the gateway to explore the state.



Getting to Meghalaya:

You can reach by air the nearest airport is Guwahati,Assam.100 km from Shilong.

Nearest railway station is Guwahati.there you can hire a taxi or bus to shilong. I preferred choose by train. And you can also reach by self driving, The road of Meghalaya very safe, you can experience the view itself.


Must visited places of Meghalaya:

Meghalaya is a land of natural beauty and wonders. There are lots of places to visit,but I can't visit all places lack of time. Some places I visited, so let share my experience of beautiful places.


Shilong:. capital city of Meghalaya:



When I reach Guwahati railway station hire a text to shilong.It's my first destination which is capital of Meghalaya. Shilong is very beautiful tourist place. it has natural beauty with eccentric markets , natural views and is famous for its momos also. Meghalaya is as beautiful as it's capital shillong.



Cherrapunji and Mawsynram: 



These places having highest rainfall and are known as the wettest places on the Earth. Cherrapunji and Mawsynram is also known for their Nohkalikai falls and the Seven sisters falls.


Living Root Bridges: 

Living root bridges are an UNESCO world heritage site, at this place the roots of rubber trees are woven together to create bridges over rivers by the help of their locality. These are also known of their Marvels of bioengineering. This bridge is as strong that 50 people can walk in one time.

Double Decker living Root Bridges:

Double Decker living Root Bridges is located in cherrapunji in Meghalaya. It is grown from the rubber trees It takes 25 years to grow. The root also known as the " Tajmahal" of Meghalaya. The Double Decker living Root Bridges is 3 kilometres long and it has approx 3500 stairs.It can hold weight of 50 people in one time and get functioning over 500 years.


Dawki: 

At Dawki, the Umngot River is famous for its Crystal like clear water. It is located on the India-Bangladesh border. The people like to ride on boats and it seems like they are floating on air. The water of this river clean like a mirror you can see under water very clearly  like plants and aquatic animals.


The seven sisters waterfall:



The seven sisters waterfall is also known as Nohsngithian falls. It is an seven segmented waterfall located in Meghalaya. It is situated at the khasi hill district about 1 km away from mawsmai village. It has an beautiful waterfall scenery , it is best place for travelers.

Mawlynnong: The cleanest village of Asia:

Mawlynnong is a village located in Meghalaya which was  known as the cleanest village in the whole Asia. Mawlynnong is an beautiful destination with maintain gardens, paths and traditional huts. You can see cleanliness every corner in this village,.I never saw this type of cleanliness in India's other cities.you must visit here to experience it's natural beauty.

Mawsmai cave:



Mawsmai cave located at a short distance from sohra. It an beautiful cave with aesthetic vibes. Mawsmai cave is famous for its fossil fuels, people and tourist visit mawsmai cave and try to find fossil fuels by scratching the caves. When you enter the mawsmai cave you'll feel the silence and the patience, chirping of birds and a peaceful state of mind.

Best Time to visit Meghalaya;

The best time to visit Meghalaya is:
October to April. 
After monsoon in October you can experience the waterfall, and his traditional rituals like -harvest festival, you can experience all seasons in a single day.

Specialty of Meghalaya

If you're visiting Meghalaya you must experience these adventures and traditional culture. There are some:


Heavy Rainfall: 

The places where heavy rainfall occurs are Cherrapunji and Mawsynram and they also create and well-maintained balance of nature.


Biodiversity: 

Meghalaya is an home for flora and fauna, it has many rare and common species of plants, fruits and animals. Meghalaya grow more than 300 apices and import all over India.

Natural beauty of Meghalaya stands for its dense and deep forests, eccentric waterfalls. rolling hills,lush green valley, lakes. rivers.

Some popular adventure sports are as trekking, river raftings, boat ridings and more.


Rich Cultural Heritage:

Rich cultural heritage of Meghalaya is its colorful and loved festivals, old age traditions.

Culture of Meghalaya:

The Meghalaya's culture consist of tribal communities such as khasi, garo and jaintia tribes are some of the most important and popular tribes. The local people of Meghalaya uses to maintain the nature and the  beauty of Meghalaya. Without music and dances, Meghalaya's festival will be incomplete. The peoples of Meghalaya are known for their nice and good hospitality. The official language of Meghalaya is English and typical speak there own language..

 " Momo" is the famous street food of Meghalaya .It very tasty.


The festivals like Shad suk of khasi tribe and the wangala festival of Garo tribes are enjoyed by the state popularly. Wangala festival is an harvest festival of the garo tribe and the Shad suk festival is commonly enjoy in the spring season. The significance of Meghalaya is there old tradition attires, bamboo handicrafts, local cuisines like jadoh ( a meat and rice dish) are the vibrant colours of the Meghalaya that bring the true attire of it.

Conclusion

Saying bye to the crystal clear state is difficult for me as the culture, traditions and the local hospitality of their common people were so truly insane. Meghalaya is one of the best place of you want to enjoy adventure, wildness, and the nature together then Meghalaya is the best blend of three of them!.
