A Guide to visit Kerala:
Kerala, also known as "God's Own Country", it is an beautiful state in southern India Popularly known for its landscape, backwaters and rich culture. In this article I'll share my experience about the visit to Kerala, how I get there, the wholesome culture, traditions and ofcourse some stunning destinations.
Getting to Kerala:
Famous Tourist Places in kerala
•Alleppey (Alappuzha) - The Venice of the East-
At first, I visited Alleppey, it is an famous local tourist place. I saw the beautiful backwaters, canals, lagoons and lakes. I tried to experience the houseboat cruises by canals, this moment was made so special for me as I was enjoying the picturesque backwaters and the lush greenery surrounded by it.
• Munnar - The Hill Station Haven
My next stop was the Munnar, an charming hill station in Kerala. As it is famous for it's tea plantations and cool climates. I visited the Eravikulam National Park near the Munnar hill station. I explored and enjoyed it alot and I also got the opportunity to met the beautiful Mattupetty dam.
• Kumarakom - Serenity by the Vembanad Lake
Next major attraction was the Kumarakom, located near Vembanad Lake. I spend hours to explore the Kerala's Backwaters. I also visited the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary as I love animals and birds, especially during the migratory season. I got so excited by visiting the Bird Sanctuary and explored literally every type of bird, It was an great experience.
• Kochi (Cochin) - The Queen of the Arabian Sea
With alot of dedication, I visited my next place that was Kochi, it is an popular Tourist Place in Kerala. I explored the colonial architectures which was so majestic, then I visited the Jewish Synagogue And then I spend some time in the Marine drive. Kochi is also famous for its Kathakali Dance, it is an traditional dance for Kerala.
• Wayanad - A Green Paradise
Next I explored the Famous Wayanad, an offbeat destination. I got an view of its highly beautiful dense forests, it's crystal clear waterfall and explored the Wildlife Sanctuary. I also tried my favourite activity which is trekking, I liked the most, after that I explored the Edakkal Cave where I found some ancient rock Carvings.
• Thekkady - The Land of Wildlife
Thekkady is an ideal tourist places in Kerala, which was next in my list. It is known to be the home to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. There I saw wild animals like Elephants, Tigers, lions and much more. I got to know about their natural habitats which was so excited. After exploring wild animals, lastly I get an Boat ride on Periyar Lake, which is an major highlight here.
• Kovalam - The Beach Retreat
Now it's time for some beachy stuff, for which I visited the Famous Kovalam beach of Kerala. It is an crescent shaped beach having lighthouses. I normally did swimming, did some of the water sport and enjoyed alot.
• Varkala - The Cliff Beach
Next I visited the Varkala Beach known for its Dramatic cliffs adjacent to Arabian Sea. I experienced less crowd here if compared to the previous one. This made me to explore the Varkala Beach more Clearly and carefully. I took sunbath, did suntan and much more.
• Athirapally Waterfalls - The Niagara of India
About the waterfalls, I Explored the Athirapally Falls known as Kerala's Largest waterfall. When I saw it for the first time it was an breathtaking sight. As it is located in the Thrissur district, it was fully surrounded by lush forests, that made my journey good.
• Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) - The Capital City
At last I visited The Kerala's Capital Thiruvananthapuram. I visited it to explore the most famous Padmanabha swamy Temple, as it is one of the Richest Temples in the World. I explored it's beautiful breathtaking sight by relaxing nearby the Kovalam Beach.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Kerala is during the winter months, from October to February, when the weather is pleasant. The monsoon season (June to September) is also a good time to visit if you enjoy rain and want to experience the lush greenery of the region.
Travel Tips
Stay Hydrated:
Kerala can be humid, especially during the summer, so keep yourself hydrated.
Respect Local Customs: Kerala is known for its rich culture and traditions. Dress modestly, especially when visiting religious places.
Try the Local Cuisine:
To try some of the famous Kerala's Cuisine, I tried some dishes like Appam with stew, some type of seafood and Kerala sadya. These all were so flavorful and wholesome to me, as exploring the new culture and its traditions gave me the vibe to enjoy it.
End of the Journey:
Now as it comes to an end, Kerala shared an diverse range of experiences, like backwaters to wildlife and to vibrant essence festivals. I enjoyed the Kerala's culture and traditional cuisine alot. I'll definitely miss the trekking and the boat ride that I enjoyed in the Kerala. This trip made me feel better and to explore more and more places better. I hope that I must visit this place again soon.
